Pool Cleaning in Roodepoort and West Rand

Contact us, we do all types of Pool Cleaning in Roodepoort & West Rand Areas.

Your swimming pool’s water should be clear, healthy and safe for your family and friends to enjoy. Correctly cleaned water eliminates potentially harmful bacteria and protects your swimming pool and it’s equipment against corrosion, stains and scale build-up.

Tips for keeping your pool sparkling and clear.

  • Check your pool’s pH levels 1-2 times per week during the summer and once a week in the winter. pH should be kept between 7.2 and 7.8 the lower the pH on this scale the less chlorine your pool will need.
  • Clean out the skimmer basket weekly, or more often if conditions exist.
  • The skimmer is installed in the side of the pool and it’s primary job is to skim the surface of the pool before debris and contaminants become saturated and float down to the bottom of the pool.
  • Everything in your pool enters at the surface of the water and an effective skimmer should be able to skim most items before it reaches the bottom of the pool.
  • Clean the basket located on the front of the pool pump every couple of weeks or as needed.
  • Turn off the pump to do this and release pressure on the system. This is the basket installed just inside the clear glass of you swimming pool pump.
  • Using a leaf trapper will ensure less debris in the pump basket.
  • Check your water level. Your water needs to be between the center and two thirds of your pool skimmer for optimal results and performance. If it is low, the pump can run dry and burn out, or if too high, the skimmer and the door will not function properly. That door keeps the debris in the skimmer.
  • Brush the pool with a pool brush as often as needed to avoid build up on the pool walls.
Always keep chemicals stored out of direct sunlight and reach of children. Keep them in a cool dry place. Do not store acid and chlorine right next to each other.
  • If your chemical levels are kept at optimum range, it should not be necessary to shock your pool. If, however, you need to do it, do it at night. Use non-chorine based shock if you plan on swimming any time soon.
Keep vegetation, animals, chemicals (like fertilizers and ironite) away from and out of the pool. Nitrates from bird droppings and waste from animals and people are food for algae.
  • Accurate pool maintenance can do more than just prolong your fun in the sun. It extends the life of your pool’s external parts and interior pool finish, saving you money in the long run. That’s why it is of utmost importance to always maintain your pool at optimal levels.

Pool Water Levels – Does it matter?

Contact us, we do all types of Pool Cleaning Services in Roodepoort & West Rand Areas.

The level of your pool’s water is constantly rising and falling – depending on how much it rains and how much water is lost by evaporation. In Gauteng this is especially relevant in the warmer seasons when it is both hot and raining.

When the pool water level is higher than half way up, the water moving into the skimmer is going so slow that debris may pass by the opening without being sucked in. If the pool water completely covers the skimmer opening, floating debris can’t get in at all.

When the pool water level is too low the pool skimmer can bottom out, thereby sucking air into the pump system which can result in losing the prime (water moving through the system) .This can result in burning up your swimming pool filter pump motor.

Ideally you should keep your swimming pool water levels between one third and one half the way up the opening of the swimming pool skimmer. This is the level at which your swimming pool skimmers operate most effectively.
